In a well-attended public meeting at Azad Maidan in Panjim
today (Dec 18, 2007), Goa's Movement Against SEZs (GMAS)
ordered the Government of Goa to abide by the wishes of the
people of Goa and scrap all the proposed and notified SEZs,
IT Habitats/Retreats/Parks and Food Parks in the state. GMAS
warned that if the govt failed to comply, it will be impelled
to rapidly intensify its fight and that the government will
have to bear responsibility for any untoward consequences.
Kudos to GMAS for taking the battle to all corners of Goa.
Despite the dirty rumours spread on groups like Goanet
by keyboard tigers and malicious whispering campaigns
conducted by these same perennial malcontents masquerading
as apolitical apostles (a codeword for anti-BJP, pro-Congress
shams), a diverse audience answered GMAS's call.
