------------------------------------------------------------------------ * * * 2007 ANNUAL GOANETTERS MEET - GOA * * * ------------------------------------------------------------------------ WHERE: Foodland Cafe - Miramar Residency - Miramar, Goa
WHEN: December 27, 2007 @ 4:30pm More info: http://lists.goanet.org/pipermail/goanet-goanet.org/2007-December/066098.html ------------------------------------------------------------------------ We ought to learn about our history in gruesome detail, however painful and distasteful it might be. But the history we learn has to be accurate. It is very easy to distort and revise it, and to propagate the distorted view through the internet without checking on the accuracy of the facts being propagated. We have seen this being done in this very forum on both sides of the ideological divide on Goan Inquisition. Whatever little I know about the Goan Inquisition from historical articles I have read and written about on Goanet leads me to conclude that many of the facts reported in the post appended below are inaccurate. What is worse is that most of the contents of this post have been plagiarized from the following websites: http://www.rediff.com/news/1999/mar/16gupta.htm http://in.rediff.com/news/2005/sep/14inter1.htm Cheers, Santosh --- Vinay Natekar <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > During this period many Hindus were tortured and > blazed at the stake for > continuing to practice their religion.
