Pubmed has been the indispensable nexus of all medical and biological research for the past 15 years, and Medline for some years before that. One can link to a wide range of articles in open access journals through it. For example, the full text of peer-reviewed papers published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, USA (PNAS) and of the Royal Society of London have been freely available through it.
