Quite predictably, my post elicited another bout of
religious chauvinism on Goanet. It is unfortunate that
this form of prejudice is still so rampant among
educated people in secular countries.

Swami Vivekananda was not a chauvinist. He taught that
all religions and belief systems were of equal value.
He never said that Hinduism was better than
Christianity. I am sure a good priest never told this
poster that Christianity was better than Hinduism.
And, yet he harbors that prejudice. Please see below:

India is a democracy. Its ruling parties have
consisted of people of all religions.

If one reads the history of India, one gets to read
about empathetic people like Mahatma Gandhi, Vinoba
Bhave, Ambedkar, Raja Ram Mohan Roy, Gora and hundreds
of other reformers.

In the light of the above question, however, one
wonders whether Babush and Churchill have this kind of
empathy, or whether they have converted to Islam or
Hinduism.

I have noticed that Indians of all religions look
after their parents and children at least as well as
Americans and Europeans, if not better.

Obviously false. Many of the clashes are between
Christians and non-Christians e.g.

If we read the history of human civilization we learn
that it is the secular way of thinking that has
achieved the most rapid progress. Exponential progress
was initiated by the onset of the age of
enlightenment.
