Some may be curious to the nickname. Well, the year
was somewhere around 1968 or thereabouts. I was in
the VII std at Don Bosco's Panjim, and there was this
new bloke who'd joined the school. Our PT master, Mr.
Domnic, took the roll-call, and finding a new student,
asked Francis which school he came from. He replied
"Mater-Dei" (Saligao?) - but his reply came so fast,
it sounded like "matari". The nick-name stuck since
then...
