NDTV says the Maharashtra government is talking about HIV testing before marriage. Against the media is going in for the "could become the first state in the country" rhetoric, that we saw in Goa recently. For the media, of course, nothing sells like controversy!
I wonder where these ideas come from. Does anyone else suspect that there could be some suppliers of testing kits behind the drive? We've seen the anti-Hepatitis B vaccines running amok sometime back in Goa. And, now, it appears that there are a whole lot of supply-driven medical testings that are becoming a fashion here, including thyroid testings. Maybe someone in the medical field could tell us more.
