Bhandare wrote to Santoshbab: 1: Nathuram Godse assasinated Gandhi not for any personal gain. He did it for what he believed was the greater good of the country.
2: Even while india was at a war with pakistan over kashmir, gandhi blackmailed the govt to give pakistan 55 crore rupees , money which was used to fuel the war against our nation. 3: Godse considered that act as treason and acted in order to safeguard national interest. jc's comment: Interesting stuff !! So, according to Bhandare, it is OK to take the law in one's own hands. From now on, anybody who BELIEVES that he is committing murder for "the greater good of the country" is free to do so. Bravo Bhandare! This magnificent weirdness is what concerns me about these Hindutva chaps. They are NO different from the horrible Inquisition folks who burnt people with a different view point or the ones earlier who sent millions of widows to their fiery but 'Sati Savitri' end, or the SS from Hitler's Germany. The 55 crores argument would have been a plausible one IF, the attacks on Gandhi's life had commenced ONLY after the 55 crores became an issue. I suggest that there were several other attacks on Mahatma Gandhi's life - the last one being the successful one. BTW: What was the 55 crores all about? Did or did not India agree to pay 55 crores as part of a mutually agreed reimbursement/compensation plan? Was Mahatma Gandhi correct or treacherous(treasonous) by insisting that India live up to her obligations? The Kashmir topic is too large to include here. I will only add that IF one looks at the timeline of the 1947 IndoPak war, one will realise that Pakistan did NOT attack/invade India. Pakistani forces (wrongly IMHO) attacked Kashmir before Kashmir signed the instrument of accession with India. The Kashmiris in 1947 (as perhaps now) most likely wanted to join neither India nor Pakistan. They wanted to stay independent. It was Pakistan's invasion of their territory which caused them to hurriedly sign the treaty of accession with India - so that Indian forces could help them defend themselves against Pakistani aggression. Using Bhandare's illogic ...all the 'violentes' who are causing mayhem in Kashmir are like Godse the benevolent and brave. After all they are committing murder, 'not for any personal gain' but for "the greater good of the country" they support. Brilliant Bunk from Bhandare just my view jc
