I think politicians in Goa have manipulated the media enough, and should keep their paws off what so many have worked hard to build into the independent media all these years. In any case, we have been suffering enough from the pro-BJP propaganda of a handful for some time now. FN == Dear FN, May I politely disagree with you. 1: What you are suggesting is that this forum censors the voice of Mr. Parrikar and other Goan politician. 2: I believe that Goans should have the opportunity to ask Mr. Parrikar (or any other politician) any non-personal question AND that Mr. Parrikar (et al) has/have a right to answer those questions. 3: This is because the Goa Journos have made a hash of the 'news' owed to Goans. In my book they have fulfilled all the criteria to fit into the category of being Negligent wrt their profession. Remember now - this forum has been ON for at least a decade. Please review the items being posted as News and decide for yourself. Have we not been calling it Nooj for some time now? And do you not remember the abuse we received from the Goa Journos along with their pathetic defensiveness? 4: Interesting that Rajan Parrikar (whose underlying motives and drasticsolutions I still worry about) had to do the hard slog commencing (I understand) from pre-dawn to way past post-nightfall. IF not for Rajan - the vast majority of Goans(overseas at least) would have been in La-La land. 5: And now ...you are suggesting that Mr. Parrikar be denied the opportunity to participate in a dialogue? 6: I suggest that GoaNet does not impose this form of censorship. 7: If Mr. Parrikar agrees to be 'interviewed' on the net - May I suggest that we Goans put forward our questions and concerns in a Detailed but Civil manner. There are many questions. I personally have some. I will put mine to a moderator - who can take out the unnecessary mirsangh I might place in them ...others may wish to do the same. 8: It is possible that Mr. Parrikar is genuinely convinced that he was wrong in some of his actions during his last term in office. It is possible that many of us Goans have questions and are genuinely concerned. 9: May be - none of us - neither Parrikar, nor we are concerned. 10: Let's find out though. Let's oppose this FN's proposal to impose censorship. Let's have an intelligent debate with Mr. Parrikar and whoever else. We do not need Winners and Losers. BUT ...we could do with some legally satisfactory solutions to the problems - many of which have been dramatically illustrated by Rajan Parrikar - with whom I agree on as many points as I disagree. As Miguel would say ...Mog Assumdi sincerely jc 8:
