14 renowned artists to participate at KA

PANJIM, MARCH 4 - Budding artists from Goa will get a chance to interact with the top artists of India when they descend in Goa to participate in the Kala Academy's artist camp, to be held from March 6 to 15, at International Centre Goa, Dona Paula.

Fourteen top artists have been short-listed for the camp, stated member secretary of Kala Academy Dr Pandurang Faldesai while addressing media persons.

The artists are - Prafulla Dahankar (convenor), Paresh Moity (New Delhi), Jayshree Burman (New Dehi), Suhas Roy (Kolkata), Suman Roy (Kolkata), Surendra Pai Joshi (Jaipur), Suhas Bahulkar (Mumbai), Charan Sharma (Mumbai), Sunil Padwal (Mumbai), Sharmad Hussein (New Delhi), Jatin Das (New Delhi), V Solanki (Ahmedabad), Dr Subodh Kerkar (Calangute), Theodore Mesquita (Panjim).

"This is the first time in the history of Kala Academy fourteen renowned artists will participate in a camp in State," Dr Faldesai said adding that the previously, the number was only six to seven.

He said that although the budding artists of Goa will not be able to participate in the event they can interact with the painters.

Further, he said there will also be a painting's exhibitions cum sale at the Kala Academy.

The participants in the camp have been requested to bring along with them one painting of theirs for participation, he said.

Govind Kalu, development officer KA, was also present for the briefings.
