The problem now is pushed further by the politicians purely for gaining power. Congress used their divide and rule policy based on caste and religion. It gained more momentum during Indira Gandhis time specially when she was thrown out of power as she used every means to gain power.BJP paid them in their own coins. If one goes through history,people have used race, religion,caste,tribe and every means to gain power.IT IS ALL ABOUT POWER. As far Goa is concerned I say we have come a long way since Bandodkars time due? increased literacy and education among the so called lower caste/class.But our politics is still based on caste and religion by?communities, and politicians?are simply exploiting these facts.The other problem in Goa is the mass influx of outsiders. The communal problem was more of a Goan against non-Goan affair. This is happening throughout the world when the locals feel their identity,culture and well being is?threatened. The case in point is the present Thakeray episode.?It is the masses we have to educate.It takes time?,effort and perseverance.? At the moment,the issue is of BAD GOVERNANCE AND CORRUPTION WHICH ARE INTERLINKED. COMMUNALISM?IS NOT THE ISSUE FOR GOANS BUT THE MASSIVE INFLUX OF OUTSIDERS IS.?TOO MANY OUTSIDERS HAVE INTERFERED IN THE AFFAIRS OF GOA AND GOANS SINCE LIBERATION AND THEY DO NOT NEED MORE OF THEM TO?HYPE/CREATE/PERPETUATE? PROBLEMS WHICH ARE NOT THERE OR WHICH GOAN THINK ARE NOT IMPORTANT TO THEM AT THE MOMENT. At the moment we need a?government that?functions, pro-Goan and non-corrupt.We need a chief executive who is efficient,disciplined,honest and pro-goan. I would propose Manohar Parrikar as the chief and Floriano as the deputy and they can choose their team.?? Just my thoughts. cheers Dr. Anesimo Fernandes?????????
