Dazzling 'Sobhann Saanz' at KCWA 20th Anniversary celebrations - Eric Ozario conferred 'Vishw Konkani Karbari' http://www.mangalorean.com/news.php?newstype=broadcast&broadcastid=73428 By Team Mangalorean - Kuwait Pics by Prem Crasto Photo Album 1 Photo Album 2 Kuwait April 4, 2008: History was created in Kuwait as "Mandd Sobhann" troupe led by Vishw Konkani Kala Ratn Baab Eric Ozario performed for the first time in Kuwait, on the occasion of 20th Anniversary celebration of Kuwait Canara Welfare Association (KCWA). This was the largest visiting troupe and the largest gathering ever in Kuwait for a Mangalorean Konkani event. The scintillating show began at 5:00 pm at American International School auditorium, Maidan Hawally, with a welcome song. Vice President Rudy D'Souza introduced the program and welcome the gathering. Mandd Sobhann troupe immediately took over the presentation of entertainment. Variety of hit songs with stunning music kept the housefull gathering on their toes throughout the show. Mand Sobhann Gurkar Shri Eric Ozario led the singers and were joined by golden voices of Konkani Rony D'Cunha, Zeena Pereira, Warren D'Souza, Joy Fernandes, Wanisha Fernandes and Ritesh Ozario. Music Maestro Roshan D'Souza led the music with Richie Montheiro, Jackson D'Souza, Sachin Sequiera, Umesh Iddya, Joy Fernandes and Rithesh Ozario. "Nach Sobhann" group presented some dazzling dances. The troupe includes Avil D'Cruz, Jeethan D'Cunha, Anil Spinoza, Marula Gibson and Sweety D'Cruz. Lancy Rodrigues led the jokes team from KCWA, gave a laughter medicine to the gathering with their rib tickling jokes. The joke artists apart from Lancy were Stephen Machado, Anil Menezes, Lucy Aranha and Renny Menezes. After a brief interval, KCWA held their official program. Rev. Fr. Henry D'Souza, Bishop elect of Bellary Diocese, was the chief guest of the day. Fr. Henry D'Souza in his address appreciated the efforts of KCWA in social service. Main sponsor of the event Mr. Felix D'Souza of Al-Rathath Est. and all the co-sponsors were honoured on this occasion. Prize distribution of the various competitions, which were held earlier in run up to the celebration was done by Msgr. John (Secretary to H.E. Nuncio). Fr. Melwyn Dçunha, spiritual director of KCWA, in his address congratulated KCWA on its achievements and wished all the best for future. Thereafter all the visiting artists were felicitated. Baab Eric Ozario was specially honoured with a Shawl, Urmaal, Fruit basket, Cash award and a Memento. On behalf of KCWA Baab Eric Ozario was honoured with a Title "Vishw Konkani Karbari". While Rudy D'Souza read the Mann Pathr, Fr. Henry D'Souza did the honors. Members draw and quiz contest prize distribution was held and the prizes were distributed by the President Jossie Pinto. General Secretary Tressy Cutinho proposed the vote of thanks. After the official program, "Mand Sobhann" troupe was back in action with more glitzy performance of songs and dances. The crowd never for a moment seemed to tire and thoroughly enjoyed the whole evening. Well known MC Stany Alvares from Mangalore compered the event to perfection. Illuminations group led by Anand D'Souza provided the sound. Steevan Misquith arranged the multi-media presentation. The event was sponsored by Mr. Felix D'Souza (Al-Rathath Est.) and co-sponsored by Mr. Felix D'Souza (Qatar Metacoats), Mr. John Fernandes (Sanbouk International), Mr. Charles D'Sa (Bassem International), Mrs. Helen Mathias - Sooda and Al-Habshi Est. The program was concluded at 9:30 pm, with the houseful gathering completely satisfied with the quality of the program, the best ever Konkani event held in Kuwait.
