Participating in a discussion on Goa Budget, the Home Minister stated that Goa
is facing a brain drain as students who pass out with management degrees and
with Information Technology (IT) qualifications do very well outside the State
due to poor job opportunities in Goa for technically skilled youth; and that
Goans will be in minority in the State in less than two decades. He further
states that Goans sit in their ‘balcãos’ and decide to oppose projects, and
that well-educated persons may not remain in Goa as there are no good new mega
industries, which can retain the technically qualified persons in the State.
Well said Mr. Minister, at least people of your calibre have no scope outside
this State. Only ignorant people in this state may believe your statements
which sounds more like: “If I go out of my house to work, some ‘ghantis’ will
come and stay in my house. So bring the workplace/factory to your house.”
Like I said before, you cannot train a donkey for a horse race, they think they
can push the cart from behind.
