I am not enthusiastic about Goa's Revolution Day (June 18th). With utmost respect to the people whom fought for Goa's freedom/liberation; to me with every passing day, it looks more like freedom/liberation FROM the Goans, rather than of the Goans. In my view on the latter, all efforts of these people will be in vain, if Goa no longer remains with Goans and we loose our unique identity.
We need a real revolution in Goa. The Goan People's Assembly for example was a good initiative and Goans should join/appreciate the efforts of the organisers & the participants. Also, in many parts of Goa, peoples movements have started for Goa's Interests; as they refuse to sit by and allow greedy builders, wealthy non-goans & Goan Politicians to destroy/sell Goa for personal gains. These corrupt Goan politicians, in particular with absolutely no conscience, have to bear the brunt of the revolution with no mercy. Not only did they amass wealth, properties for themselves by destroying Goa but also now have/forming their own regional FAMILY political groups to be part of Government/Legislative Assembly; so as to continue with their destructive legacy. Hema Sardessai is absolutely spot on her demand of Special Status for Goa and we now need to settle for nothing less. Goans regardless of caste, creed or religion should unite on the common objective to Save Goa & Goa's Unique Identity and with the same, no force can stop us from achieving our objective.
