Miguel Braganza wrote: 1: Dear Eugene: What exactly is the point that you want to make in your long, rambling post on 18 June?
2: Telo Mascarenhas lived at the house of Elsa Mendonca in Camurlim for some time. so what does that have to do with the freedom struggle? 3: Personal issues do not concern freedom. 4: Some "arsonists" and children who "Shouted slogans" are Pensioned Freedom Fighters asking for more "reservations" ..... These are beggars, not fighters! 5: Flaviano Dias has already lorded over the "Scrutinising Committee" set up by Manohar Parrikar for the infamous VCD. Just see how he has depicted Cuncolim in that. Why suddenly remember Dr. Menezes now? Why not in time to add him in the VCD?? -- jc's response: My dear Miguel, you make excellent points. No need for me to expand on them. They speak for themselves. I notice that Eugene has explained why he rambled. It was some good doctor's fault ! Sure (;-) I must still place these questions on the table: (i) What exactly did Telo do by way of "nationalistic activity"? (ii) Where is it documented? Even arsonists have their activities documented. (iii) WHY was JC able on several occasions to speak privately with the ageing Telo (his wife, Elsa was always present)? (iv) WHAT proof is there that Dr. Pundalik Gaitonde and his wife lived separately (while he was alive / and not in prison)? (v) WHO was Nath Pai and what role did he play in the departure of Dr. Gaitonde from Goa in 1963 (vi) Has anyone (besides Bosco) read Mrs.Edila Gaitonde's book "IN SEARCH OF TOMORROW'? It details the intrigues that were played against Gaitonde ante-1961. However, here is a another vignette: " "The Portuguese military chief in Goa had just arrived with his posse at Betim and was to cross over to Panjim. The personnel of the Navegacao were ordering the people already boarded to make way and give preference to the Army chief. Dr. Gaitonde who had also just arrived, jumped into the ferry and shouted loudly "clear me first and then these people". The Chief came to him, APOLOGIZED for the behaviour of the Government servants, and requested the people to board and proceed with the crossing." (reference upon request and following consent of author) (vii) Expect that to happen in 2008? (viii) Why are the immediate Pundalik Gaitonde family (still in India) but not in Goa? Have fun .......(:-) good wishes jc == Eugene Correia responded to Miguel: a: As for my rambling, the original post was precise. It was only after the good doctor sent in a reply that I ramblemed on in my second post. b: It becomes obvious that the Portuguese wanted to keep him in jail for his nationalist activities. c: I am not sure if there were any interviews or any writing on Telo after his return, d: Again, I showed how the wives of Telo and Pundalik lived away from their husbands.
