CM for new scheme to produce documentaries NT NETWORK PANAJI — The Chief Minister, Mr Digambar Kamat today said that the government, if needed, would launch a new scheme for producing documentaries on the life of living Goan achievers in diverse fields, so as to preserve their life and times for posterity. "Those film-makers who display keen interest in directing such documentaries, would be asked to do so," he added. The Chief Minister, earlier released the DVD of a documentary on the life and times of noted Konkani litterateur, Ravindra Kelekar, in his presence, at the Maquinez Palace, on Thursday. The documentary is produced by the department of information and publicity and directed by Mr Dharmanand Vernekar and Mr Dilip Borkar. Speaking further, Mr Kamat said that the new generation is ignorant about the contributions of many living Goans, who have excelled in various fields, during their lifetime. The president of Goa Konkani Akademi, Mr Pundalik Naik, in his speech said that Mr Kelekar is a national writer who writes in Konkani language. He also said that Mr Kelekar had given recognition to Konkani language on the national level. Prof Suresh Amonkar and Mr Borkar also spoke on the occasion. The director of information and publicity, Mr Nikhil Desai compered.
