Writing balderdash on Goanet and getting away with it has become the norm.
Because a few of us have become disgusted and refrained from commenting, this
has given voice to those who extol the virtues of anarchy and chaos. I'm sorry
Soter, but far from being a member of a Peaceful Society, you come across as
someone who wants to violate every decent, democratic principle that India
stands for and in the act of furthering your own agenda, you are misguiding and
misinforming Goans.

For instance, which market is this where people "have" to converse in the local
language. I've haggled in the grimiest markets of Mumbai, Chennai, Kerala,
Delhi and Pune. Sellers all over the world know just one language. The language
of money. If you have it, they'll sell to you. If not, maybe they'll pretend
they can't understand you. And how many Goans speak Konkani in the Goan local
market? If everyone had to speak just Konkani in the market, the markets would
close by 10am.

Secondly, where is this Utopian place where you they won't sell land to
"outsiders"? Do you think there is some secret society in this world, which
pledges an oath to counter the basic principles of economics. Make the right
offer and anyone will sell to the devil himself. Sure, we can enact
conservation laws that will protect the land, but you can't depress a
free-market by moral arm-twisting. Do you know how counter-productive that is
to an economy? Will you take responsibility if Goa spirals into a recession or
will you find some other scape-goat?

No Soter, you speak for yourself when you say Goans are angry. Your actions are
resulting in the destruction of Goa, starting with the resignation of Oscar
Rebello. You had best start acting more responsibly if you want to bring about
tangible and "Peaceful" change to Goa. And Goans it is time you started
listening to your own conscience. We've had enough of being misled by
politicians, now we are being misled by everyone else.
