Dear Ricardo,

As a paternal cousin of Dr. Oscar Rebelo, you have done right. Oscar is no
enemy of mine, either. I have defended him against the tirades of Rajan
Parrikar and a host of others on this very list for over a year. Your father
knows me and my family and I count your cousin Derick among my friends. Your
aunt Maria Rita and I have served in the same office for many years and Belinda
is a good friend of mine. Ricardo, it is not as if we do not know each other,
having met in the GCCI quite a few times.

If the original interview of Oscar by Arti is truncated in my posting, it is
due to the specific rules of  Goanet. I have provided the Message ID of the
full text [without the photo as goanet does not accept Rich Text] that was
posted by Frederick Noronha for Goanet Reader and I have replied to, just in
case anyone wants to search the archives and refer to the original text. It is
also available to you on the GT August 7, 2008, Page A10. I am sure you have a
copy. Should I accuse you of mis-representing my views for not reproducing my
text or retaining the message ID as I have retained your message ID?

Ricardo, anyone who knows me also knows that I do not have an ego problem. I
also do not want to be popular or stand for elections. I atend public meetings
and speak if asked to. Otherwise, I am comfortable being in the audience. I
think anyone in the GBA, Oscar included, will accept this.

I am constantly at loggerheads with journalists, most of them known to me, when
they do not stick to the facts. Now you turn round and accuse me of the very
thing that I am campaigning against? To add insult to the injury, you compare
me with Manohar Parrikar who kept silent in the Assembly during the passage of
the Goa TCP [Amendment] Bill, 2008 on 25 March, 2008 ... a full 21 days after
the Gazette copy of the Ordinance with the same text was printed in the
Official Gazette on 05 March, 2008 and has the audacity to tell the CSJP
delegation that there was only two days notice? Who do you think I am .... a
turncoat like some of your colleagues [and, perhaps, some of our GBA men] who
were Parrikar's men till mid 2004 or January, 2005, [as was convenient] and now
swear by Digamber?

I have no personal animosity against Oscar. He is free to have his personal
views. He was free to resign from GBA Convenership. There was absolutely no
need to go to town about it. If someone wants to be a messiah, he must be
willing to be crucified. I do not believe you would call yourself a Christian
if Jesus had left the Garden of Olives and gone for a holiday to Cyprus or
Alexandria instead of trudging up to Calvary  ...with the cross on his back. He
could have also gone back to his carpentary job.

Read 1Corinthians 13:1 to 13 when you have the time ...and the inclination. It
will help you understand why I sign off the way I do .... or as Fr. Moreno de
Souza SJ did.

Mog asundi.

I totally agree with your admission that "Dr. Oscar Rebelo can be
quite  forthright and candid." I also partly agree with your opinion
that "With his powerful oratory, innocent looks and expressive eyes,
he had become the darling of the  Press", but let me also add 'the
people of  Goa as well' and I guess that's what is primarily niggling
your ego.

First of all you have selectively reproduced only parts of Oscar's
interview with Arti Das in GOMANTAK TIMES, August 7, 2008, Page
A10.... When you compare the original interview with your distorted
version of it, it becomes clear that the half truths as published by
you is out of context and with the sole purpose of projecting Dr.
Oscar Rebelo in bad light. You claim to be a journalist but you
have broken every journalistic norm and code of ethic by giving the
impression that you had published the whole interview. Have you
trained at the 'Goebel's School of Journalism' where distorting the
truth with half truths to achieve a fascist agenda is the norm? I am
beginning to believe that the 'Goebel's School of Journalism' may be
possibly located in  Mapusa, since an ex chief minister of Goa from
Mapusa also seems to be an expert in this school of thought.

And by the way, till you stop your hate mongering stop  ending your
opinionated columns  with "Mog asundi"

Viva GOA!!!
