The Goa People's Assembly, a forum for protection of
Goan Rights, at it's meeting held on 22nd August, 2008
at T.B. Cunha Hall, Panjim, condemns the unwarranted
interference of Union Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav,
and Chief Minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar, in the internal
matters of Goa State. The people of Goa stand by their
Home Minister, Ravi S. Naik, and such unnecessary
controversy and unjustified demand of apology from
a Goan Legislator is an insult to the Goan people. The
hospitality and generosity of Goans should not be taken
for granted by any State. The migrants must respect
the culture and identity of the Goan people.

The concern of Goa's Home Minister needs to be
understood in the context of increasing crimes and
social tensions as well as breakdown of infrastructure
in the State due to indiscriminate migration from
other States. The Home Minister is justified in
expressing the sentiments of the people of Goa
and this daring interference by politicians from other
States must serve as a lesson for the future to
our politicians who create migrant vote banks at
the expense of peace and quality of life of the
Goan people.
