If there any Goanetter living in Bhusaval or anyplace else, who knows about soapstone, and perhaps interested in helping me out.
I am interested in working in soapstone, basically carving Kanji / Nagari / Siddham characters from which to pull off impressions. This is an area known as Tenkoku (the carving of seals) and the script style is known as Tensho (not the karate kata) / Chinese - Zhuan Shu. Example of seal script: http://anndundon.com/calligraphy/html/scripts/ten.html Why soapstone? Simply because I assume it may be available in large sizes, larger than 4" x 4". It is hard to get stones from China, that are large -- besides when available they are expensive, unless bought in China. Soapstone is easier to carve and may be worked at a faster pace. Of course it must not be too soft in which case it would be difficult to maintain a good edge. If you can be of help please do contact me and we can discuss specs, and also how we may go about the transaction, commission, etc. The shipping will be to Mumbai, payment from Mumbai. <http://wapedia.mobi/en/Talk:Seal_script> Venantius J Pinto
