Hi Tony, I fully agree with the nurses demanding chains, driving licences as deposit.. The reason is we thionk that the wheel chair can be left any where, thats a very wrong statement to make that some one will collect and bring it back. What happens if these are left in the path of the ambulance coming inside. And god forbid if you are in the ambulance with a heart attack rushing to the hospital. what chances have you got, as the driver has to get down clear the wheel chair. If you have been constantly driving around the airport you will realise that these trolleys becomes a nuisense to drivers. I was recently in Dubai, where in the shopping centre, you inserted 1 dhm and unlocked the trolley, if you return it back and place it with the lock back your 1 dhm comes back to you, you will not see even one trolley out there in the parking lot as everyone returns it back, and 99% of those are Indian, That is the reason I feel GMC is justified in asking persons to keep deposits. I love that idea, It makes things easier for all. I would say well done Lenny

Meaning that the relative could return the wheel chair and thus redeem his watch. On making a few enquires, I learnt that not only watches, but driving licenses, gold chains, and other valuables are accepted as deposit for wheel chairs. I cannot for the life of me imagine any one taking a wheel chair, loading it into a vehicle and carting it away - not when GMC is bristling with security guards and servants who seem to be idling away their time. I understand the nurses concern for getting back the wheel chair allotted to their department as they are accountable. But since every wheel chair is labelled with the ward number, if a wheel chair is left out of place, it should be immediately returned to the correct place. Like at airports, a person taking a trolley can move anywhere within the precincts of the airport and just leave it there. There ought to be someone to collect the wheel chairs and return them to their proper places or the wheel chairs could have electronic tagging chips installed to make the task of locating them. Now that GMC has taken the positive step of appointing Ecoclean to do clean up operations at GMC, this could be an additional function allocated to them. (Additional payment?
