The Mamai Kamat mansion antecedates the Palácio do
Hidalcao by a few decades.
It was using that established fact that their advocate,
Dr. Redualdo da Costa, won the Mamais their milestone
case, in Portugal.
The Mamais habeen decreed that a portion of their house
should be demolished to enable Óbras Públicas to widen
the narrow neck separating the two mansions.
Redualdo argued in court that as his clients' house already
stood before the other, it was Adil Shah's lack of farsight
that were the cause for our contemporary traffic-woes.
Hence, he prayed that if any demolition were necessary it
would have to be effected on the present seat of government.
He carried the day...
