Three Cheers to 'MAPUSA'.

Bardezkars, offer your support in whatever form, to the MAPUSA NAGRIKANCHO EKVOTT and by supporting the initiative taken by its convenor Adv. Antonio J.B. Lobo to make this dream come true and bring unlimited pride of not only Mapxekars but to all Bardezkars and Goemkars. In the offing is a great clean-up in all respects, may it be the traffic congestion, traffic withing the market, sanitation, removal of illegal hawkers et al. The Ekvott has met the Chief Minister and has advised him in no uncertain terms that the Mapusa ODP must not be notified unless and untill the suggestions and objections given by the Ekvott are implemented or justified for not incorporating them in the ODP.

The Ekvot has been directed by the CM to meet with the CTP (Chief Town Planner), which meeting is scheduled for 14/10/08.

Subject: [Goanet] The Mapusa Friday Market

The Mapusa Friday Market

Mapusa is the hub of Goa's Bardez Taluka. It is the most important town in
Goa north of the Mandovi. Mapusa has always been the market for village
produce in Bardez, besides being an outlet for goods from Pernem and
Bicholim talukas. People from villages surrounding Mapusa like Bastora,
Moira, Tivim, Assagao, Siolim, Guirim, erla, Parra and far flung villages
like Pomburpa, Aldona, Ucassaim, Calangute, Pilerne and Saligao have always
gravitated towards Mapusa for their purchases as well for selling produce
and doing official work connected with litigation, births, deaths and
marriages.
