Hi Samir,
Just to draw a tangential but relevant parallel, the White Settlers in Kenya
thought they could arm themselves against the Mau Mau, by bulking up on the
ammunition. Unfortunately, the Mau Mau stole their guns and attacked them with
their own fire-arms. I can see something similar happening in India if
civilians are allowed to arm.

To draw another parallel, Europe and UK get along just fine without firearms.
The crime-rate here is minimal when compared to the heavily armed US, where
almost everyday one will hear senseless gun-related crime.

What we need in India are arrests, prosecutions, jail-term, banning politicians
with criminal records from contesting, banning extremist groups, holding mobs
accountable for the violence they perpetrate. At the moment, it's a free-ride
for everyone. It's complete and utter madness and let no one think that what is
happening in India and Goa, is "normal" under any stretch of the imagination.
