AI to fly Goa-Dubai five times a week

HERALD REPORTER

Come  October  26, 2008   Air  India  (AI) will   commence direct  scheduled
flights  from Goa  to  Dubai , five times  a  week.

According  to officials  from Air  India, this  is  the  first time  that
the  airline  will be operating  five  direct  flights  from Goa  to  Dubai.

The  two  non-operational  days  are Wednesday  and Friday.
A  senior official  from Air  India  speaking  to  Herald  said  that   the
airline has   re-arranged   its  winter  schedule    increasing  the
flights     from Goa  to  Dubai   from thrice a week  to  five times  a week.

What makes the  new  schedule historic  for  Goa  is  the  direct connection
within a flying time of  two  and a half  hours.

What  also  makes the  new arrangement  different   is  the  fact   that   it
commences  from   Bangalore to  Goa  and  thereafter  proceeds  directly to
Dubai  after  a 40  minute  halt  at  Dabolim, thereby  restoring   the
Goa-Bangalore   route which  had  been disconnected  for a   while.

The  return  journey is  also a  direct  flight  to  Goa  and  not  via
Bangalore.
According  to   Air  India, the   previous   arrangement   was  from Pune and
return  flights   to  Goa  were   scheduled  Dubai  to Goa  via  Pune making
the   flight  hours longer.

The  airline is also   operating  direct  flights   from Pune   to  Dubai,
officials  disclosed.

The  Director, Dabolim Airport  Paul Manikham  confirmed  that  approvals
have been accorded  for   the  direct  flights  from Goa  to  Dubai  five
times  a week.
