Oscar C. Lobo JP - A New Voice For Bentleigh
IndianVoice.com

A member of the Indian community living in Bentleigh will be contesting Glen Eira City Council as an independent candidate for the Council elections Which are on the 29 November 2008. Oscar has lived in Bentleigh and has seen the changes for last several years. Oscar has the passion and drive to work for the betternment of the residents of Glen Eira and will work tirelessly to achieve results.

Oscar Lobo was raised and educated in Goa, India, through an English medium high school. Goa is situated roughly halfway on the west coast of India, with a tropical climate. Goa is a place of heady beaches, with the coast of south Goa being almost one long beach stretching for miles.

After the departure of Portuguese from Goa, Oscar moved to the big city in Bombay to experience the challenges of a city that does not sleep. Oscar got to learn the Indian language as the language was not compulsory in Goa prior to 19 December 1961; when the 451 years of Portuguese rule came to an end and Goa became rightly a part of India.

Oscar has a degree in Business Administration and he has worked in three countries prior to moving to Bentleigh working with various international and local banks.

In addition to English, Oscar is multi-lingual and speaks 4 languages. He believes that people's background and language bridges the gap of any possible misunderstanding in humanity and ensures an element of harmony.

Oscar is currently on the Board of Management of Godfrey Street community House, Bentleigh. A Justice of the Peace serving the Bentleigh and East Bentleigh community. Oscar received the Leadership award for Victoria's 2007 Multicultural Awards for Excellence for his twice a year events that are held in Melbourne and labeled as "show pieces" of integration with mainstream and other Australians attending these events.

Oscar says: I would like to give back to Australia and particularly Bentleigh and East Bentleigh my experience and talents (instead of sitting idle with my talents and doing nothing) for the betterment and safety of our suburbs so that both East Bentleigh and Bentleigh can continue to be one of the most "livable suburbs" of Melbourne. We cannot afford to sit on our laurels and therefore we need to be pro-active for the betterment of our community. I intend to be your eyes and ears in the council

As a New Voice for Bentleigh, I will work hard to deliver the results; something that is a second nature to me having worked in environments where results were imperative for success.

I believe that all Australians can make a difference when we work together. I promise to work with my mind and heart and for the benefit of everyone in Bentleigh and East Bentleigh. I seize this opportunity to request your votes in the forthcoming Glen Eira City Council elections due in November 2008.
