Poor response for Army recruitment drive from Goa.
Only 28 Goan joined Army in last four years. Although 16 got recruited in
07-08, it was 2, 4 and 6 in 04/05, 05/06 and 06/07 respectively and not more
than 5 in 08/09. Said Brigadier Bhaver Puniya.
Brig. Puniya is Incharge of HRD Army of Maharastra, Goa and Gujarat.
He further said that there were 24000 applicants in Kolhapur however it was
only 175 in Goa. Only 32 out of 175 passed in height . Of these 12 could pass
1.6 km running and other tests. Out of these on 5 could pass Chest Enlargement
and other tests. These 5 will appear in written examination on Feb 22, 2009.
Brig. Puniya also told that Army Recruitment drive receive good response from
Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Maharastra.
