This apocryphal story needs to be told and retold.
In Benaulim village , there was this high class as well as high caste
beatin ( in
Portuguese - Beata ) who was a devout Catholic. She attended mass regularly
said her prayers faithfully including innumerable recitation of
rosaries, followed
all the don'ts that the church had imposed like prohibition of eating meat on
lenten fridays etc. She was not to be easily enticed by papal bulls that made
exceptions to following certain rules.

Now this elderly spinster laying dying in bed and kept on repeating
''Jezu tum maca pau' ( Lord Jesus have mercy on my soul ). But just before
she kicked the bucket her last words , however, were: 'Punn, Jezu, to
tevoia-lo cheddo nuim ! '' (But Jesus was the son a carpenter. wasn't He ! )
