The above statement is false. The Republican senator's blog does not
provide links to any peer-reviewed scientific studies at all.

The only other scientific document which the Republican senator's political
blog refers to is the following non-peer reviewed publication of Stephen
Schwartz:

http://www.ecd.bnl.gov/steve/pubs/HeatCapacity.pdf

Mario responds:

Santosh doesn't seem to understand that this thread is about whether there
is a universal "consensus" on whether global warming is being caused
by human activity, and whether the science is "settled". He seems to
be getting increasingly desperate in his attempt to make Goanetters believe
that the matter is settled and that the sky is going to fall if we all don't
join him in his quest to save the world - from us.

Hence, we see him quibbling about peer reviewed "studies" versus peer reviewed
"articles" versus peer reviewed "publications".

Mario responds:

Unfortunately for Santosh's unscientific propaganda, the Editors of the
Journal of Geophysical Research, as well as the author of the publication have
confirmed that this is a peer reviewed article. They have confirmed this to me
in response to an emailed inquiry from me. Anyone interested can privately ask
me for the correspondence.

Santosh concludes:

What's more, all of the speculative arguments that they have made on
internet blogs and websites, and in popular media and books have been roundly
refuted by climate scientists.

Mario asks:

This is simply Santosh's amateur opinion. We all know what Santosh thinks
about this issue even though he was not involved in any of the studies he is
promoting, nor is he a climate scientist. He is a scientist in an unrelated
field.

On the other hand, there are several scientists in the field or fields that are
closely related, who have looked at the same information that Santosh has and
come to different conclusions.

Finally, this is not to say that Santosh and those he believes will not be
proven right a hundred years from now. It is to say that a) we don't know for
sure, and b) serious scientists who are far more knowledgeable of this subject
than Santosh disagree with his opinion. Santosh may claim they are wrong, but
that doesn't mean they agree with him as their comments will show. Notice
their credentials.

I hope Santosh will refrain from any personal attacks or insinuations against
these scientists, and show some respect for their dissenting opinions.
However, I'm not holding my breath.

2. “Since I am no longer affiliated with any organization nor receiving any
funding, I can speak quite frankly….As a scientist I remain skeptical...The
main basis of the claim that man’s release of greenhouse gases is the cause of
the warming is based almost entirely upon climate models. We all know the
frailty of models concerning the air-surface system.”

receive a PhD in meteorology, and formerly of NASA, who has authored more than
190 studies and has been called “among the most preeminent scientists of the
last 100 years.”

3. Warming fears are the “worst scientific scandal in the history…When people
come to know what the truth is, they will feel deceived by science and
scientists.”
- UN IPCC Japanese Scientist Dr. Kiminori Itoh, an award-winning PhD
environmental physical chemist.

4. “Anyone who claims that the debate is over and the conclusions are firm has
a fundamentally unscientific approach to one of the most momentous issues of
our time.”
- Solar physicist Dr. Pal Brekke, senior advisor to the Norwegian Space Centre
in Oslo. Brekke has published more than 40 peer-reviewed scientific articles on
the sun and solar interaction with the Earth.

5. “The Kyoto theorists have put the cart before the horse. It is global
warming that triggers higher levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, not
the other way round…A large number of critical documents submitted at the 1995
U.N. conference in Madrid vanished without a trace. As a result, the discussion
was one-sided and heavily biased, and the U.N. declared global warming to be a
scientific fact,”

6. “I am convinced that the current alarm over carbon dioxide is
mistaken...Fears about man-made global warming are unwarranted and are not
based on good science.”

Advancement of Science, and the National Academy of Sciences.

7. “Gore prompted me to start delving into the science again and I quickly
found myself solidly in the skeptic camp…Climate models can at best be useful
for explaining climate changes after the fact.”
- Meteorologist Hajo Smit of Holland, who reversed his belief in man-made
warming to become a skeptic, is a former member of the Dutch UN IPCC committee.

8. “CO2 emissions make absolutely no difference one way or another….Every
scientist knows this, but it doesn’t pay to say so…Global warming, as a
political vehicle, keeps Europeans in the driver’s seat and developing nations
walking barefoot.”

Technology Research at Chubu University in Japan.
