Samir,

If your account is true, it tells me that that particular school was grossly
negligent in providing proper elementary English education to the children. But
please see the following post of mine to find out why I am skeptical of this
account:

As far as imparting proper education about the native religion and culture is
concerned, I have no problem with it, as long as they do not provide false
information, teach parochial religious explanations for natural phenomena and
mix religion with science.

I am not sure whether teaching students about the lives of freedom fighters who
fought against the British is a bad thing, as long as accurate information is
provided. The portrait of the Birsa Munda hangs of the wall of the Indian
Parliament. I would like to know how Popli's version is different from the real
historical version before I pass judgment. I am NOT in favor of teaching a
sanitized version of our history, as much as I am NOT in favor of teaching a
revisionist version of it. Please see the following Wikipedia version:

I would like to know the genuine historical facts in this matter.

This teacher is a criminal, and his students were ill-served by him. What I
would now like to know is how many other teachers of Ekal Vidyalaya schools
have committed these types of crimes, and whether any of these schools teach
students to commit violence against others. I am absolutely against any kind of
exaggerations and generalizations based on isolated incidents.

I know that tomorrow some Hindu extremist might post a news report here that a
priest in a Christian school committed some crime, and claim that this is what
goes on in all schools supported by some Christian organization. I would like
to have the moral authority and courage to strongly object to and refute his
generalization, and not be caught in a duplicitous situation. Wouldn't you?

Cheers,

Santosh
