Fr Catao was my teacher and Vice- Principal at St Vincent's High School, Poona. I remember him as a man of very few words but a strict disciplinarian. During a brief period when he stood in for the Principal who was away, he practically exhausted his supply of 'pink cards' and 'grey cards'. However, behind his stern exterior, Fr Catao hid a very tender heart. He was kind, considerate and empathised with the problems of poor students. One could unburden one's problems to him and come back feeling light and relieved. He had very aristocratic features and gait. Once one came to know him more deeply, one found in him a trustworthy friend. I will always miss my old teachers, for whom teaching was a vocation and not a job. Farewell Fr Catao. We will all meet again one day.
My sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Fr Catao. May his soul rest in peace. Regards, Marshall
