Very commendable, I should say.
Similar this side of town, when I clean up mine and neighbouring nature strips,
and there is a retired old gent in the neighbourhood who actually mows nature
strips that have overgrown lawns for nothing, in our street. Now that's
community spirit at work for you.
Unfortunately, we cannot do much for the road hoons who like to decorate the
street with burnouts now and then, though at least one car was impounded by the
police as we have a resident police officer in our street.
PS for those who don't know what I'm talking about, a nature strip is a tiny
strip of land that has a lawn on it and sits between the sidewalk and the road,
and usually has one or two trees on it in front of every house. It actually
belongs to the municipality, but every owner is expected to take care of it and
keep it trim and tidy. It is not rare that some irresponsible dog-owners allow
their dogs to use it as a toilet - we have managed to keep dogs and cats off
ours by sprinkling it with chilly powder roughly once a month :-)

them in a garbage bag. I did this on a few Sundays. People soon
started doing the same and soon after that they probably warned their
guests about it. I have had no occasion to clear anything for years
