Subject: [Goanet] Reply to S. M. Borges

Reply to S. M. Borges' Letter on Gomantak Times dated 17th June

Let's have the debate

-    No 'ifs' and 'buts' !

>From the letter of Mr. S. M. Borges 'Let's have the debate, Tomazinho, but .?"
>(Gt June 17)  one comes to the conclusion that Mr. Borges is not willing to
>have a debate otherwise he would have not put conditions to answer his
>questions before the debate. In fact the debate is proposed in order to get
>all answers from me as well as from Mr. Borges. Then why there is a need to
>answer him in advance? Or is it an excuse to avoid to discuss the matter in
>public because it could lead to the exposure of lies perpetuated by Mr. S. M.
>Borges and others of his like regarding Konkani in Roman script?

Once again Mr. Borges displays his frustration by linking the issue of the
proposed debate to politicians. He says in his letter, " Politicians thrive on
media exposure, so it will be cruel  to deny Cardozo his craving." The whole of
Goa knows that I have left politics long back but it is Mr. Borges alone who
keeps on harping on my political life because it suits him to defame the
politicians and get the mileage from it if possible. In fact Mr. Borges has
been appointed to some statutory bodies by the politicians only who according
to him crave for media exposure. It is very easy to make use of the term
'politician' in a defamatory way but it is very difficult to refuse the goodies
offered by the same politicians.

Therefore this is my last request to Mr. Borges. If Mr. Borges has the courage
to face the truth then only he can accept the proposition of having a debate.
But if he wishes to continue his tirade against Konkani in Roman script and its
supporters with the help of lies and 'manipulated facts' then he is free to
give excuses to prevent the debate from happening.
