GULF-GOANS e-NEWSLETTER (since 1994)

EVERY GOAN  SHOULD SEE THIS VIDEO.

Here is a video showing how the mines are treading rough-shod through
the serene green (possibly the last) landscapes of Goan hinterland. the
video is about 20 mins long but for especially for those who staying away
from Goa should know they might never see the Goa they left behind in a few
years time.
This may not be well edited but nevertheless the message is clear and
stark. Hopefully someone will put sense to these on to the mine owners, it
doesnt have to be so destructive.

Goa, Goa, Gone

Mining is Goa’s second-largest industry after tourism. 8% of this state’s land
is already under mining, mostly for iron ore. Now, mining activity is
intensifying across the state. So is the opposition of citizens to this
unregulated industry. This Infochange documentary explores the impact of mining
on Goa’s environment – one of the world’s 12 biodiversity hotspots -- and
livelihoods
