I thought she would contribute something substantial to the debate. The point you missed, dear Selma, is that the convention should not happen. If you think it should happen, I would give to hear your views. I prefer stirring the pot than sitting on it. I have more happy to raise issues that affect us today than "dead" ones like the Inquisition. The debate on the Inquisition is more suited to goaresearch forum, which was co-founded by Fred. There the scholars, including Selma, could thrash the topic threadbare. I have read enough on the topic and had the privilege of meeting Prof. Higgs. However, I have avoided getting into this "shitpot" as it does not directly affect Goans today. The past is there for us to know and understand. If people have something new to say other than what Priolkar, Higgs and other historians have already noted, whether from primary or secondary sources, I think the debat does not move forward. By itself, the Inquisition is an inglorious chapter in the history of Christianity. It does not need to be forgotten, but it surely does not need to be revived now and then on this forum.
