We call it ‘Chipttam’

When matured or ripped, these are edible and I ate plenty.
Edible part inside is round shape, about  the size of Green Peas
They grow well in the fields. You don’t to plant or grow them they grow just
like
that e.g. villages, bushes, fields etc
They may grow around the same place year after year.

This is a roadside bush plant and don’t know if it is grown commercially.
However, ripped ones sometimes  available for sale in small quantities at
market with those ladies who sell  home grown seasonal fruits etc.

When ripped, it become yellowish

When we were kids, we used the raw ones to blow air by mouth and then
strike/break it on our foreheads so as to give a ‘ttok’ or ‘blop’ sound.

I think some parts of Goa call it ‘chirputtam’

Somewhere at vegetable markets, I saw  giant size chipttam but never tasted nor
I know if they are chipptam but they look like ones.
