Cheryls remarks should not go unchallenged. Yes we have the Christian virtue of
tolerance, but even virtue has its limitations. Where do we draw the line.
Christ inded says that if a person takes your cloak, you shoud also let him
have your tunic. That is as far as Christ got. Christ did not say that you
have to give away your skin and eventually your body and let your adversary
walk all over you. In fact he also said, an eye for an eye and a tooth for a
tooth. Now do we see that there are limitations. We have given these outsiders
our finger and that have taken more than out arm. Therefore drastic action is
now necessary before thay take our whole body.
Goans of the three major religions Hindu, Christian and Muslim had lived in
peace under the Portuguese rule and there was never any friction. This is true
tolerance at its best. Now that the Ghatties have arrived they wish to
transform our tranquility into religious animosity and thus are sow the seeds
of religious intolerance. We should not fall for this. Our Political leaders,
OF WHATEVER FAITH THEY ARE, should realize that UNITED WE STAND AND DIVIDED WE
FALL.
I hope we have the foresight and see through these tactics.
