POINGUINIM: Canacona police said on Monday that unidentified culprits have
committed
theft of over 25 brass bells from the Ganapati temple at Khola in Canacona
taluka.

The bells were tied in an open area outside the sanctum sanctorum of the
temple,
police informed. The bells were found missing on Sunday by the locals and they
subsequently filed a complaint in the police station.

The temple which is in an isolated area has devotees coming once a week, every
Tuesday to offer pooja. An idol of Ganapati was found at that spot 40 years ago
after which the temple was built and the idol installed.
