Subject: pollution of selaulim dam

It was reported by Ramakant Kushali Gaonkar of chimud wada of curpem village in
sanguem that a mine has damaged a natural spring and the rejects are flowing
along
with the spring water through the mountain and has destroyed their major
potable
water source which served them for times immemorial, This destruction of water
body
will now destroy their kulagar which has numerous betel nut trees and other
fruit
bearing trees. There are fears that the way these rejects are flowing through
the
mountain , a portion of the hill may collapse.

These mining rejects along with spring water joins the selaulim dam reservoir
which
in turn gets polluted and we have heard reports of turbidity in selaulim dam
waters
a few days back, there are chances of the filtration plant getting blocked.
