It was reported by Ramakant Kushali Gaonkar of chimud wada of curpem village in sanguem that a mine has damaged a natural spring and the rejects are flowing along with the spring water through the mountain and has destroyed their major potable water source which served them for times immemorial, This destruction of water body will now destroy their kulagar which has numerous betel nut trees and other fruit bearing trees. There are fears that the way these rejects are flowing through the mountain , a portion of the hill may collapse. These mining rejects along with spring water joins the selaulim dam reservoir which in turn gets polluted and we have heard reports of turbidity in selaulim dam waters a few days back, there are chances of the filtration plant getting blocked. photo no 846 - ramakant kushali gaonkar standing in polluted spring. http://picasaweb.google.ca/GoanetBlog/Environment#5412350784342570338 photo no 847 - mining rejects damaging crops. http://picasaweb.google.ca/GoanetBlog/Environment#5412350789040448674 photo no 849 - kulagar on the verge of destruction. http://picasaweb.google.ca/GoanetBlog/Environment#5412350791725724786 photo no 850 - rejects joining selaulim dam reservoir http://picasaweb.google.ca/GoanetBlog/Environment#5412350796854540786 photo no 851 - close up of rejects covering the water bed http://picasaweb.google.ca/GoanetBlog/Environment#5412350803081309554 -- Please post your comments on my Blog: http://goanidentity.blogspot.com/ Please also see below: 1.
