Dear all:
Just an update on the plans for the GOANETTERS' MEET 2009, that will
be held on Monday, Dec 28, 2009 at 4 pm at Foodland, Miramar. The
venue is at the Miramar Circle, just alongside the beach. It is the
restaurant section of the Miramar Residency.
The following have confirmed participation:
IITian-engineer-cum-classical guitarist RUI LOBO [1], fashion designer
WENDEL RODRICKS [2], author (of four books on Panjim and Goa of the
old, one on learning Portuguese and one on nostalgia) VASCO PINHO [3],
and Goanetter and due diligence specialist STANLEY MARCHON [4].
You can also expect to run into free software exponent ANIMESH
NERURKAR [5], journalist-turned-academic and author SAVIA 'Tales From
the Attic' VIEGAS [6], Konkani Romi and Devanagari writer VINCY
QUADROS [7], humour writer CECIL PINTO [8], SANDEEP HEBLE [9], and
Goa's cartoonist with the longest innings ALEXYZ [10].
Others who have promised to make it include artist SANJAY KENI, Mr and
Mrs JOE CASTELINO (earlier based in Sweden), coconut craft artiste
VIJAYDATTA LOTLIKAR [11], member of the board of governors of St
Patrick's and St Joseph's Colleges in Karachi MENIN RODRIGUES [12]
(who also researches, collates and writes about the Catholics/Goans
in Pakistan) , Technical University Berlin alumni engineer MANUEL
CALDEIRA [13], chess and ayurveda campaigner SHRIKANT BARVE [14],
UK-based founder-member of the Goan Association UK and ex-RAF GABE AND
LILY MENEZES [15], Dr Anil Desai of the UK, and the public-spirited
pharmacist RAJ VAIDYA [16] of the Hindu Pharmacy along with possibly
others of Voluntary Health Association of Goa [17].

Others have queried about details like timing of the event.
Don't miss the Konkani music by Rui Lobo on
his classical guitar... and from 3-4 pm there
will be a small, informal get-together of former
Karachi Goans (preceeding the Goanetters meet).
Do pass the word around to anyone who might be interested. In keeping
with the volunteer-driven spirit of Goanet, there's no charge to
attend ... but each one pays for their own snacks or drinks (if any).
Those collecting Goa books will get the chance to buy some author-signed copies.
