Happy Three Kings Feast to you which will be celebrated with devotion, pomp
and gaiety in Cansaulim, Arrossim and Cuelim and the adjoining villages of
Salcette today and by out Goan brothers and sisters coming from far and
near. All the roads would be leading to the Chapel of Our Lady of Remedios
on the Mount in Cuelim.
The Mount of Cuelim and the beautiful chapel is dedicated to Remedios
Saibinnim (Our Lady of Remedies) and the spectacular view that you get of
Goa on all sides with the Sea and the greenery is something to be treasured
and one of the most beautiful spots in Goa.
Unfortunately once you are on top you also see the destruction of Goa that
continues unabated on all sides - the never ending industrial estates in
Verna meandering all the way to Loutolim, Zuari Agro Chemicals belonging to
Birlas and the slums that have mushroomed and proliferated all around,
Meta-Strips and other such monstrosities belching out pollutants and
damaging our environment, hotels, mega-projects and gated communities that
the builders seek to push through by breaking every rule in the book wiping
off our Goan neighbourhoods and causing the destruction of our beautiful
Goan villages and our Goan way of life that our parents, grand-parents and
ancestors so loving nurtured and cultivated for countless generations.
As you mentioned in your posting yesterday this year the King from
Cansaulim would be the son of the MLA Mauvin Goudinho who is a grand-son of
the village. I’m sure there will a whole lot of his partners in crime - our
so-called Goan MLAs and their coteries making a bee-line to Cansaulim and
the Cuelim mount. There beaming and with their mouths watering like a pack
of greedy wolves and hyenas will be these corrupt politicians and their
chamchas and greedy, corrupt band of thieves, thugs cohorts in the
Panchayats, Town and Country Planning Department and other Government posts
who have destroyed so much of Goa in such a short time.
What a shame that the greed of a bunch of corrupt and vile politicians and
their chamchas in just one generation have sought to sell and destroy Goa
and Goans down to our ruin and destruction, that was so lovingly created and
preserved for centuries.
Hopefully the trek up the Mount of Remedios Saibinnim (Our Lady of Remedies)
in Cuelim will touch the hearts of all true Goans who will stand up to
preserve and protect Goa and our environment and put a stop to the greed of
certain people who are all set to destroy instead of preserving and
protecting our beautiful Goa.
