In a clear and very obvious attempt to hoodwink the Gram Sabha members, it is now becoming apparent that some Sarpanch and Panchayat members have sought to subvert the wishes of teh Gram Panchayat members by passing fake Regional Plans. This is now coming to light.
This is sheer deceit and fraud that is being committed to further the interests of the builders and of course there are big kickbacks from this. This is from the Herald below. Suspension of Loutolim Sarpanch demanded HERALD REPORTER MARGAO, JAN 22 A member of the Loutolim Village Level Committee, Franky Monteiro has demanded the immediate suspension of the village Sarpanch by the authorities and seizure of panchayat records by the police pending further investigations on the fake RP 2021 submitted to the Town and Country Planning Department. Monteiro further demanded stringent action against the village panchayat secretary for being a mute spectator and being a party to the illegalities. In a statement, Monteiro said the villagers and members of the Village Level Committee and amused and disturbed with the varied statements of the Sarpanch and secretary and are now looking forward to further action being initiated by the police in the matter, adding the people will then know who are the actual people behind this regional plan scam and their motives. Monteiro claimed that the Sarpanch has made an about turn from his earlier statement that the signature appearing on the forwarding letter and plan was not his and the same was forged. “The Sarpanch has informed the police that the plan was not prepared by him but by some panchayat members and villagers who had submitted objections to the proposed draft RP 2021 earlier prepared and submitted by the Village Level Committee”, he claimed. Interestingly, Monteiro said the Panchayat secretary in turn has washed his hands over the issue stating that he was not aware of the preparation or the submission of the mysterious plan by the Sarpanch .
