http://twitter.com/goanet --------------------------------------------------------------------------- To Goanet - Dr. Anil Desai responded to Samir Kelekar: > This was a gem of a response from Samir. He claims that I ramble about MARG > and then writes eight paragraphs of, you guessed it, ramble. Instead, he > could have answered some of the simple points I raised. > > Samir claimed that road deaths in goa have been reduced and he probably > wanted to give credit to MARG. As I pointed out, the taxpayers of Goa pay a > lot of money to have traffic police whose job it is to make sure that > accidents are reduced and as a consequence deaths on the roads are reduced. > Besides, as Bosco pointed out, other people like Roland Martins are also > working in this area. > > I pointed out in the last post that road related deaths were 222 in 2202, > 260 in 2003 and have been over 300 in each of the last three years. So, can > Samir now explain his contention that road deaths have been reduced. > > The second point I made was about corruption, perceived or real. MARG claims > to be a NGO. If it is a NGO, how can they appoint a serving chief minister > as one of their office bearer? > > The third point was a so-called NGO getting hundreds of thousands of Rupees > from a state that has a debt burden of over 50000 crores and rising. So, my > posts are about corruption, perceived or real. > > Over to you Samir. This time try not to ramble. That will be the day. Dr. Desai, last month acting as an impartial referee, I tallied your sterling accomplishments vis-a-vis the babble emanating from Bengaluru. To refresh, here is that score - http://lists.goanet.org/pipermail/goanet-goanet.org/2010-January/188476.html Over a month has gone by and the Bengaluru babble has since revealed that all you have done is "thrown crumbs" at Goa. You must be truly ashamed of yourself now, aren't you? You worked hard for every Pound you earned. It was honest money that you made by dint of your hard work. And over the years you gave significant sums of your honest income to schools in Goa. You helped many young bright men & women get through school and college. Aren't you ashamed of these "crumbs," Dr. Desai? Had you been a true sage you would have wangled a few crores of public money from Digu. If you truly had "guts" you would have shown up at Digu's door like a real man and asked for tax sops for your little gig. If you were truly great you would have threatened to create jobs in Goa (without actually creating any, mind you). But alas, you lack all the fine qualities of truly honest ascetics. Besides, you are accustomed to a life of luxury, of fancy hotels and of air travel in First Class. Ergo, you are a bad man. I urge you to learn to live like a sage (there's an iPhone app for that). More apropos, this has become a disease in Goa - people close to political leaders getting large handouts of taxpayer money for their pet projects as if it were their own personal piggy bank. And when anyone calls this into question they go postal, squealing indignation and waving ascetic langotis in your face. This is a state whose balance sheet screams red all over, and we have people freely drawing lakhs of rupees from the public treasury and then demanding that We the People hold our peace. Warm regards, r
