MARGAO: Several development works were launched by the PWD Minister, Mr
Churchill Alemao in the Navelim constituency, on the occasion of his
birthday, on Sunday.
A large number of supporters and well wishers visited Mr Alemao at his
residence since Sunday morning and wished him.
Mr Alemao’s supporters from various parts of the constituency such as
Navelim proper, Carmona, Davorlim, Aquem-Baixo, Cavelossim, Rawanfond,
Orlim, Dicarpale, Varca etc arranged various programmes to mark the
birthday of their MLA.
At 2 p.m., the PWD Minister laid the foundation stone for a community
hall at Cavelossim, tailoring classes were inaugurated at Cotto Moll,
Aquem-Baixo at 5 p.m while a water reservoir was inaugurated in
Carmona at 3 p.m.
During the day several transformers were put into operation to supply
flawless electricity to the coastal areas.
The PWD Minister also laid foundation stone for the extension of
panchayat ghar at Davorlim and development of Coldem football ground.
Besides this, foundation stones were laid for the development of nullah
and development of children’s park at Dicarpale.
He also laid foundation stone for development of football ground at
Davorlim.
Mr Alemao visited old-age homes, distributed cheques to vegetable
vendors, inaugurated decor lights at Mobor, Rawanfond and Varca.
The minister was available at his Varca residence from 9.a.m. to
1.p.m.for those who came to wish him at his residence. A labour welfare
centre has been inaugurated at Navelim.
In the morning, Mr Alemao was greeted by the Chief Minister, Mr
Digambar Kamat, Cabinet Ministers, MLAs, Secretaries to Government,
heads of departments, ZP members and people from all walks of life.
Most of the supporters of Mr Alemao were of the view that lot of
development works in the constituency have been carried out by Mr Alemao
within a very short spell of time.
Speaking to ‘The Navhind Times,’ the PWD Minister said that people are
his strength adding that it is with their help that he has been able to
do so much in the Navelim constituency within the shortest possible
time, adding further that Navelim constituency will see much progress as
never before.
