Goanet News quoted an editorial from the Herald titled " Campaigning, in style"
This is my response to the Editor of the Herald. Dear Editor I must commend you for your very forthright editorial on this issue. It behooves us all to behave in an equitable and reasonable manner, even if it means that behaving otherwise would bring us notoriety and possibly, more business. I submit that dadagiri is not the modus operandi for the educated and well intentioned. If the educated utilise the methods of the street-chaps, we will lose the freedoms for which many have sacrificed so much. Men of the cloth exercised this unbridled power in the most horrible Inquisition; Doctors, believing that they were all-knowing, became paternalistic at the cost of violating the basic rights of patients; Rulers became ruthless dictators and did away with those who dared to disagree; and now, we have Lawyers using the power of the Courts to harass specific targets. They even are utilising the willing sections of the media to play 'judge, jury and executioner in a campaign of public innuendo and bitter charges'. It is time for all those who are able, to take up the study of law. If not, those who are able, will deplete the helpless of their savings, property and honour. It is worth noting that most dictators and other harassers of the average folks never appear to realise that time eventually equalises all matters. It is unfortunate that, in the interim, many will have to suffer the indignity and unfairness perpetrated by the unscrupulous ones. jose colaco Velim and Nassau
