With Vishwajeet sworn in G-7 shrinks to G-4 2010-06-24 Lots of excitement around the Congress Office in Panjim with Vishwajeet Rane doing political cartwheels to get into the Congress Party. He resigned as Health Minister and MLA, joined the Congress and then drove with much wailing sirens to the Governor's residence where he was sworn in again just an hour later. Traffic was shoved aside to leave the route open from the Congress Office to the Cabo. One wonders if the Governor Shivinder Singh Sidhu realises exactly how foolish Goan politics looks to the outside eye.
The CBI meanwhile has begun proceedings against Babush Monserrate who joined the Congress yesterday. No prizes for guessing why the sudden prodigal son/servant returning to the fold of the Hand. Babush Monserrate has three criminal chargesheets against him. Vishwajeet too has criminal charges against him with giant killer Aires Rodrigues observing the political gymnastics taking place in Goa. Vishwajeet resigned from the cabinet and as an MLA this morning then joined the Congress. He was sworn in again as minister in the afternoon, an hour after he joined the ruling party. Journalists asked GPCC president Subhash Shirodkar why the Congress was admitting tainted ministers he answered very wittily, "Why don't you ask the High Command? Whya re you asking me these questions? The state had nothing to do with such decisions." Vishwajeet had spent some time in Delhi, in due course of time details of his flight expenses will come out in the open. He brushed it off as needing to be in Delhi for medical treatment. True, Sonia Gandhi has given him a new lease of life in the Congress, maybe Babush and he plan to dislodge Digambar Kamat from within, since they could not do it when they cobbled together the G-7 and saw coup after coup fail. The G-7 now seems to have lost its fizz completely. Mickky' Pacheco is missing in action, Babush and Vishwajeet are now sleeping with the enemy. G-7 has shrunk to G-4.
