Dear Arwin, Roger et al,

Thank you very much indeed. There is in fact no need for 'thank yous' because we have undertaken the task of reforming the way our otherwise beautiful, peaceful and orderly GOA is governed , increasingly to make it the hub of crime, corruption and one thing that was not, the drug & prostitution den.

Everything that we have prided in being GOANs in our GOA is being steadily stripped away, snatched and plundered, not by outsiders, but by Goans themselves, conniving with any Tom Dick and Harry to pocket a few pieces of SILVER. What a pity.

Ten years on [on 31 August, 2010] and our work and efforts , however small, towards making GOA an INDEPENDENT and self-reliant STATE goes on without let or hindrance. All that we humbly expect from our fellow GOANs is for them to open up their eyes and minds and get on to the long trek towards liberating all our Goan values that we pride in, to make GOA the haven for all Goans to look back in satisfaction to say .... WE DID IT.

And the priority job at hand is to take hold of the POLITICAL reins of our GOA in our own hands, to walk with 'her' to the blooming horizon. There is just one more chance for us to do this and we cannot afford the luxury of saying that 'we made a mistake'.

In all sincerity,

Cheers
floriano

Thank you Floriano Bab and Dr Dumo for attending last night's meeting and sharing your observations and thoughts for all. I can imagine it must have been quite late by the time you got home and yet you shared this with all.

In every way, the Goans of Bombay were part of the great melee that was this metropolis, distinct perhaps in the way communities often are, holding on to their own traditions but merging slowly nonetheless and forming the thin thread of nationhood that would eventually become India. -- Selma Carvalho, in *Into the Goan Diaspora Wilderness*.
