MPs SALARY HIKE It is reported that the cabinet has decided to defer the unanimously approved Parliamentary Bill seeking to hike their own salary from Rs 16,000/- to Rs 80,000/- and also the allowances!This behaviour cutting across party lines starkly shows all that is wrong with our honourable members and the System!With inflation,Farmers suicides,hunger deaths and rotting food grains,CWG and many scams,the greed exhibited is shocking! In 1996-97 it was reported that the political class both at the States and then Centre are kept happy at a staggering sum of Rs7, 40,577 crores per annum (CAG Report).That has since increased many fold? I cannot believe that right now, in this scenario, they are agitating for this RIP-OFF increase! They want parity above Secretaries without any connection to work performance or attendance or scams or extra curricular illegal activities. They get Rs1000/- for every attendance in Parliament and at Committee Meetings.No where in the world do they themselves decide on their own salaries and perks and get free electricity,air and railway fares to anywhere in India, constituency allowance etc. Also free personalTransport, Accommodation mobile/Telecalls that majority of us cannot afford, pension and unimaginable perks!They are not employees of Parliament,but volunteers for social service and aam admi well being, for which they asked for our votes and not to look after themselves first and last no matter the plight of the nation!It is good to see at least a few Ministers/MLAs have a conscience to block this Bill.
