One says 'daytante.'
The best national beer brand in the US is Coors, and Molson in Canada. The two
companies merged about ten years ago, cementing an old bond between two
Daressaalam buddies, Mervyn and Vivian, with cross border toasts that rival
those famous Falls.
The War of 1812 ended when the two nations met in Ghent, Belgium, on
December
24, 1814 to sign the 'Peace of Christmas Eve.'
Tragically, two armies facing each other in a final showdown in New
Orleans were not aware the fact - and fought a huge battle that started on New
Year's Day, 1815. Both sides avoid the issue today, but the end came with the
ambushed death of 2500 Redcoats and only ten American losses. All three
British
generals were killed, including the brave and revered commander of Waterloo
fame, General Sir Edward Packenham.
The American 'Dirty Shirts' were commanded by Andrew Jackson, the rarely
sober, barely literate General who lived in the trenches and did not sleep for
days, dug trenches and hugged every soldier he addressed. He went on to become
the seventh President of the US, his civilian shortcomings overlooked by a
nation that adopted the American expression 'O.K' from the "Oll Korrect" he
scrawled on White House papers he approved.
