*Bhakti Kulkarni is Goa's First International Woman Master* It is Official Now! Bhakti Kulkarni is Goa's first International Woman Master!! The World Chess Federation (FIDE) in its annual meeting held at Khanty Manski (Russia) awarded Asian Under 18 Girls Champion Bhakti Kulkarni the prestigious title of International Woman Master (IWM). The Press Officer of the All India Chess Federation Mr.Arvind Aaron had sent a congratulatory message to Bhakti confirming her title. "I consider this as not my destination but one of the stepping stones for my future achievements," said Bhakti -the Brand Ambassador for the Goa Carbon Ltd. " I am grateful to Mr.Srinivas Dempo,Goa Carbon ltd. and my trainer Mr.Raghunandan Gokhale for this achievement,". Bhakti had scored Seven norms for International Women Master in the last two years when it was mandatory to score just three norms. The player must reach the rating of 2200 to be eligible for becoming IWM. Bhakti had crossed that milestone long back and is enjoying a rating of 2294 with a first position in her age group in the Asian continent. The newly appointed Vice President of FIDE and Hon Secretary of All India Chess Federation, Mr.D.V.Sundar hailed Bhakti as one of the leading stars of Indian Chess with bright future. "Bhakti will be one of the leading woman players of our country within the next three years," predicted the veteran organiser. Bhakti is training at present with Dronacharya Awardee Raghunandan Gokhale in Mumbai before leaving for Halkidiki(Greece) for the World Youth Championship on 19th October,2010."
