Cansaulim and Velsao flooded! What more can one expect thanks to unscrupulous builders enjoying the patronage of the MLA? Look at the construction that continues unabated on the hill slopes from Birla down to Velsao. Where will the water flow when there is no provisioning for drainage, sewage and other arrangements?
You cut the trees, hill slopes, fill up the pandhs and bandhs, destroy khazan lands fields and ponds that the ancestors painstakingly built and then act astonished when the villages get flooded in October! The local MLA is busy constructing his own hotel on the slopes leading to Velsao opposite his cousin’s Queeny Nagar. Further on Fukott Nagars thrive dime a dozen! Further in Cansaulim Chief Minister Barbosa filled up the fields and the two ponds where the T. B. Cunha Stadium stands and they constructed a colossal building right in the heart of the village. So where would one expect the water to flow if not into the stadium? All the drains are blocked because of the illegalities that these builders get away with thanks to corrupt Panchayats and even corrupt MLAs.
